Underwater Bridge Inspection

The Barr & Prevost underwater inspection team conducts the visual and hands-on inspections of submerged portions of bridges (or other structures) and documents its findings and recommendations in technical reports. Our scuba-certified diving personnel are experienced ODOT Level II Bridge inspectors, and include licensed professional engineers. Each team member contributes expertise in applicable engineering disciplines or technical skills which collectively result in efficient and safe underwater inspections that provide our clients with detailed and accurate observations, data, and analysis that allow for informed decisions regarding structure safety and options for rehabilitation.

Typical work performed by our underwater bridge inspection team includes the following:

  • Submerged pier and footing inspection and rehabilitation recommendations and design
  • Scour inspection/analysis and countermeasure recommendations and design
  • Hydrographic surveying and mapping
  • Underwater video and still photography documentation
  • Debris and marine growth removal  from submerged structures/intake maintenance
