Project Completion Date:

Project Description:
Barr & Prevost was hired as a subcontractor to conduct the geotechnical investigation for this proposed sanitary sewer to be constructed across Delhi Township Park in the Delhi neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.  The project served to eliminate a lift station at the end of Covedale Avenue by providing a direct, 12-inch diameter, gravity sewer connection to the existing sewer in Welland Drive about 1,200 feet to the southwest.  Micro-tunnelling was the intended means of pipe installation.  The project is owned by, and services were performed in accordance with, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati.

Three borings were taken along the project length.  Soil samples were taken via split spoon sampler.  No Shelby tube samples could be collected due to the strength of the soils.

Barr & Prevost developed boring logs based on the field boring logs provided by the drilling contractor and upon review of laboratory samples by a geologist.  Selected soil samples were subjected to laboratory testing to ascertain the physical properties of the materials encountered.  All split-spoon soil samples were tested for natural moisture content, the results of which were recorded in the boring logs.  Soil classification-related testing (Atterberg limits, and particle size analysis) was conducted on representative samples.  Boring logs and laboratory test reports were included in the final investigation, analysis and recommendations report presented to the client.
