Project Description:
Barr & Prevost was subcontracted to provide the geotechnical services involved in this sewer replacement project in Mt. Airy Park in the Cincinnati Park District.
Drilling and Sampling Responsibilities:
- Coordinated boring locations to avoid minimum disruption to streams, trees and park setting
- Drilled and extracted rock cores
- Noted depth at which ground water was encountered, and levels measured during and 24 hours after drilling
- Regraded the site upon completion to conform with the natural surroundings
- GPS survey equipment used to locate borings quickly without cutting trees that would be in line of sight per conventional surveying methods
Laboratory Testing and Engineering Responsibilities:
- Conducted testing to Client’s specifications:
- Moisture Content Determination
- Classification
- Unconfined Compression (Shelby tube and rock core)
- Direct shear testing of rock cores and triaxial shear testing of Shelby tube samples
Report Production Responsibilities:
Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Mr. Stuart Edwards produced a final report summarizing the field exploration and laboratory testing findings after the investigative phase was completed. Boring logs and test results were included.
