Project Description:
MOT-75-13.71/13.92 involves the replacement of MOT-75-1371 over the Great Miami River and the replacement of MOT-75-1392 over North Bend Boulevard / Webster Street. MOT-75-1371 R is a 7-span structure carrying four lanes of traffic over the Great Miami River with diverging 2-lane ramps to I-75NB and SR 4 EB. MOT-75-1392 is a 3-span continuous steel beam structure with a reinforced concrete abutment on a spread foundation and cap and column piers which carries two lanes of SR 4 EB traffic over North Bend Boulevard / Webster Street. Barr & Prevost provided geotechnical engineering and foundation recommendations for the bridge replacement of MOT-75-1392 and MOT-71-1371. Drilling and related traffic control was also completed by our staff. All laboratory testing was completed in our AASHTO accredited laboratory located in Columbus, Ohio.

Twelve structural borings were completed in the field and included Standard Penetration Resistance testing and undisturbed Shelby tube sampling. A laboratory testing program was assigned to evaluate the structural characteristics of the subsoils and included classification and strength tests in accordance with AASHTO methodology. Based on the field and laboratory data we determined appropriate pile type, size and length and performed scour analysis, in accordance with LRFD guidelines.
