Firm History

Established by Andrew S. Barr, PhD, PE in 1992 as a civil engineering consulting firm, Barr & Prevost has expanded its capabilities to include geotechnical engineering, material testing, surveying, geotechnical and environmental drilling and construction inspection services.  Prequalified in the states of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia to provide a range of transportation design services, areas of expertise include bridge design, inspection and analysis; highway design; traffic study, analysis and design; geotechnical engineering; surveying; drilling; concrete, soil, asphalt and paint testing/inspection.

A seasoned and innovative staff of engineers, inspectors and technicians whose efforts are supported with the most recent design software releases and progressive equipment, are encouraged in meeting continuing education goals to keep informed on current standards and industry innovations.  Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, we also maintain offices in Cincinnati, Ohio and Parkersburg, West Virginia, and have established a materials testing laboratory in the Columbus area, enabling us to serve a wide range of public and private clients.  Project Managers report directly to Principals, Andrew Barr, Jim Prevost, or Enoch Chipukaizer to assure that goals and deadlines are met, and relay information and updates immediately to engineering staff.  This hands-on management style and assumption of responsibility provides for clear communication and allows for quick responses to possible concerns or changes in scope.
