Project Completion Date:

Project Description:
This rehabilitation project involved the reconstruction of 0.28 miles of S.R. 41 and the superstructure replacement and widening of Bridge No. FAY-41-2229 over I-71 in Jeffersonville Township, Fayette County, Ohio.

Barr & Prevost’s role was on several levels.  Initially, we conducted a field survey, followed by subsurface investigations and a geotechnical report that included foundation recommendations, embankment computation requirements and active soil earth pressures for abutment and wingwall design.  This information was utilized in our development of the plans for rehabilitating structure FAY-41-2229.  The existing four span structure supported on spread foundations was widened on each side.  The new foundation was supported on H piles.  The abutments were converted to a semi-integral design.   Roadway and maintenance of traffic plans were also included.

During the construction process, our involvement continued on a material inspection and testing basis.  Concrete Maturity Monitoring was used for the bridge deck curing process, enabling the contractor to remove forms and begin parapet construction within three days after the deck pour, facilitating the reopening of S.R. 41 ahead of schedule.

The project was administered by ODOT District 6.
